Treasurer's Office

The Treasurer's Office is responsible for receiving monies for Judith Basin County. The office sends out property tax bills and collects current and delinquent tax payments. It is also responsible for titling and motor vehicle registration, investing for the public schools and county as well as collecting the county accounts receivables. The Treasurer's Office also provides notary public services.

Property Tax Search & Payment

Property Tax Payment for Judith Basin County Tax Payment Options:

1. In PERSON in the Treasurer’s office with cash or a check.
2. Through the MAIL by check.
3. By CREDIT CARD*, two ways:
     A) CURRENT TAXES. Current taxes can be paid by searching for your                         property in PROPERTY TAX PAYMENT and clicking the PAY button.
     B) DELINQUENT TAXES. If your taxes are delinquent you MUST call the
         Treasurer’s Office to get your payment amount which will include penalty 
         and interest.

You may then pay with a credit card by calling 1-866-549-1010 or at http://www.certifiedpayments.net.  Payments through Certified Payments require the Judith Basin County Bureau Code: 2124655

*A minimal convenience fee will be charged when using your credit card to pay taxes.

Motor Vehicle Titles, Renewals & Forms

MOTOR VEHICLE:
Vehicle renewals can be done in person in the Treasurer’s office by cash or check payment. Renewals can also be done through the mail by check or online using a credit card. To renew online click the following link: Online Vehicle Registration Renewal Service. Renewal online cannot be done if your registration has expired.

TITLES:
Titling paperwork will be sent to the Treasurer’s office from your dealer and we will contact you by letter when the paperwork is received. If you are purchasing from a private individual, the following paperwork will be required:
     1. Notarized Montana Title or Out-of-State Title; or Manufacturer Certificate of Origin
     2. Driver’s License
     3. Lien Release (if applicable)
     4. Any other applicable supporting documents such as Power of Attorney, Death Certificate, Bill of Sale, etc.

Driver's Licenses

The Treasurer’s Office in Judith Basin County DOES NOT renew driver licenses or give driver examinations. These can be done in either Lewistown or Great Falls. 

DISCLAIMER:
Failure to receive a property tax statement does not exempt the taxpayer from timely payment of the taxes due. Property tax statements are mailed each year to the owner of record, as their name and mailing address appear on the tax roll. The tax roll is prepared and maintained by the State of Montana, Department of Revenue, Property Assessment Division. If you do not receive a tax statement, please contact the Treasurer’s office to request a duplicate statement or to request an address change. If payment is delinquent, penalty and interest accrue daily until paid. Mail must be postmarked on or before the due date to avoid penalty and interest costs.

REFUND POLICY: The Judith Basin County Treasurer is not responsible for payments made on the wrong property or the wrong motor vehicle and payments so made cannot be refunded. If your mortgage company pays your property, do not pay it yourself.
